for movies that i can encode with blend for 12 hrs jumps to like 17 hrs when i use blend (adaptive) instead....adaptive is definitely better...but i just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this...

Adaptive deinterlace filters mean they analyze the movie and switch between deinterlace modes where applicable. This involves more work than just applying the same mode throughout, which is why it makes the encoding time longer.
