Happy Holidays tin2tin ! I use the Media Player Classic 1.3.1249.0 from my DSG folder every day. I drag and drop .avs files to the shortcut to it on my desktop. Never have any problems. The link in your thread #1740 is version 6.4.9.1 (revision 107), that works also. I have an X64 EDITION version 1.5.2.3456. It never worked with .avs files, so I don't use it for them. I downloaded a newer version of the X64 1.6.5.6366 (744df1c). It doesn't work with .avs either.
Here's some messed up news,
I find that the latest version of ffmpeg DO NOT have pre-build libraries compilation option of ffmpeg: --enable-avisynth
This has caused a new version of WinFF to no longer accept .avs files. I spent several hours of the holiday weekend trying to resolve this. I should have went outside and built a snowman instead. Their newer preset libraries aren't compatible with the old version of ffmpeg. I'm in the process of trying to have both of their versions running on a single machine. It's not working out well, apparently the paths and presets want to be global and it has been going slow.
I don't know if this helps you, but I'll do what I can for you on this end. I have machines running Windows 7 X64, and one running X32, and a Windows XP 32 bit machine running. Tell me what I can do and I'll do it. If it gets complicated I can run Norton Ghost and then I won't care what happens.

I'm not ready for Win 8, I have searched how to make it look and run like Win 7, it can be done. Microsoft wouldn't have changes things so much in 8 that things like mpc-hc wouldn't work, would they? I don't have smartphones or touch screen monitors.
I was told that someone needs to compile a version of ffmpeg that has the option of ffmpeg: --enable-avisynt. That's not me. I have learned very much here @ DSG, and discovered several people that know these things. I would be grateful if someone could look into that. If a post comes here that would help with the compile I hope I don't miss it. Please let me know if I can do anything to help.
Ya know... I read that Avanti 0.7.0 is using a version of ffmpeg that supports .avs. Believe me I'm thinking about downloading it to at least grab the ffmpeg file and see what happens. Their release date is 6 days prior to the ffmpeg release date. That worries me.
Update - Avanti doesn't come with ffmpeg you have to use what you've got. I'll try to stick to topic from here on out, sorry. I'm just freaking out over the missing AvSynth in the newest ffmpeg. They must be partnered with MS.Last edited by argusvidicon; 24th Dec 2012 at 09:11.

Hi there,
I am new to DVD slideshow Gui... I have used it to create an album (time sensitive)... and then promptly tried to send it to youtube. I am not a savy user when it comes to youtube or video in general, but I am a software engineer (database application software on mainframes) so not completely ignorant but just a basic PC user.
I first got error "nolinkedyoutubeaccount" so I went to youtube and tried to figure it out from there... with Google now involved... I truly have no idea about the connections etc... but I managed to sign in and see my videos as well as change to a user id to login with... I previously always used my email address.
So then I tried again with the youtube button on DSG and now have gotten an autolt error.... "line 1550 (file "C:\program files\DVD slideshow GU\youtubeuploader.exe")" Some posts indicate malware... this seems like a great reputable freeware program... but I did not find a contact button on DSG's website... so I am trying here to get some guidance.
Thank you. -
Thank you for the response... Oops, my bad... I said I wasn't savy! I had the password wrong to youtube (because I never use it!). A more intuitive error message would be a bonus... but the software works so well, I am not complaining!
I wonder about a feature that I can already see being useful to me with large slide shows...
I see where I can have the image name filled in on the subtitle at load time... I just don't like the lack of subtitle formatting. I think it would be really useful if I could position the subtitles - right or left justify for example... any thoughts on that? Is it possible to get someone to add that code? I doubt I would be the candidate for it, although I wish I knew enough!
Thank you again! -
The subtitles can be positioned with the the codes in the combo box in the Slidesettings window. If you select more slides and place the cursor at the beginning or end of a subtitle and add a style code, then this code will be added to all the subtitles in the selection.
At the dsg home page there is a video tutorial. Check it out. -

I've tried to make a new release with mplayer instead of MPC-HC(because of Windows 8), an updated HcEnc, VS_Filter(for much improved subtitles), fixed bug in chapterpoints for GFD export and saved ext apps paths in ini, however mplayer doesn't work on Windows 8 with Avisynth scripts, so I had to pull it back. If anyone still wants to take it for a spin here it is(one thing to note is that mplayer is the only player which can work with this version(on all other OS than Windows 8):

Hi again,
I wonder if once I have created a project... if I can move the locations of the music and images... I tried to and then DSG couldn't find anything so I put it all back... but that's not where I want to keep those items and I don't want to redo the project now... Any ideas?
Thank you! -
me.. again...
So I got a dvd burned and can play it on my laptop... but I was hoping it would play on a DVR to the TV. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is that not possible? I have a new samsung blue-ray player... and it said it was unrecognizable. The disk was a philips DVD+R.
Thank you for the education! -
Since you said that I tried a different (older) DVD player and it works! I still want to know how to get it to play on our very standard newer ones though...
-
If you live in the US, you should use NTSC. PAL is the European TV format.
-
Can you also please tell me the difference between 4:3 and 16:9? Thank you.

Did you watch this tutorial-video?
http://blip.tv/dvdslideshowgui/narrated-dvd-slideshow-gui-tutorial-6183557Here I try to explain all the basics in great detail of using DVD slideshow GUI, also about formats/ratio and normal and letterbox. -
Not yet... will do asap! Thank you!!! I want to mention, and will get more specific later... that I get a few different errors when I select the burn option, but if I just click through them, it writes the DVD and gets to the Completed message, and the DVD does play... but it would be nice to be getting such ominous error messages... I will try to capture them and post another time!

Apparently there is some problem with the 0.9.5.4 included vsfilter(which shows the subtitles) in Windows 7. Videohelp has a lot of versions of this filter. I need help to locate a version which works on Win 7, because I do not have win 7 myself. I would be happy if anyone find a version of vsfilter which works on Win 7. In order to test just download vsfiler, unzip and place it in the DVD slideshow GUI/bin folder(where the old one is located).
@pchan I don't know much about the use of localized characters. It is all handled by the programming language. However I've seen screenshots of DVD slideshow GUI with subtitles in non-western characters, so it is possible. Is the language of your OS set to chinese(rebooted)? -
I tried all the VSFilter.dll in https://www.videohelp.com/tools/VSFilter-DirectVobSub/old-versions#download for V.0.9.5.3 and all didn't work.

Do you mean don't work as in no subtitles when previewing or no chinese characters when previewing?
