I made a slideshow & clicked on burn disc, After a while it said image burned successfully.. I put the disc in my dvd player to the TV, and got the message "Undefined" "OK"
why would the dvd player not play it.. what is the error undefined mean, & how can I correct that?
thanks,
John -
Tested a 4:3 NTSC burn-to-dvd export. Works fine here. (Just guessing what you might have exported to)
Have you tried to play it in other dvd players(like the one in your computer)?
To check the content of the DVD open the VIDEO_TS folder on the disk and drag and drop the .IFO file into Media Player Classic(you can find this in the program menu for DVD slideshow GUI.) -
I openedVideo_TS folder, & there is no .IFO file in there.. Only 2 disc icons with a Play arrow on them. it says they are VIDEO_TS Backup of the IFO file 8kb.. the oter icon is the same except it is 20kb, but it plays fine in my computer..

If it plays fine on your computer(behaves like a normal DVD), then it must be you dvd player, which can't play a dvd authored in Muxman, or maybe it's the media you burned the slideshow on it doesn't like. Anyway I didn't code Muxman and therefore I can't fix that if it is somehow Muxman related.
I suggest you to google your dvd-player name to see if anyone else has problems with playing homeburned dvds on it. -
Well this will add to this dilemma... Befoere I made this full DVD of my Birthday party, I made a short one just to see if I did everything right.. & it worked well so I then decided to go ahead & make a DVD of the entire party, Then I got the Undefined message, so I burned another, still undefined.. Am using Philips DVD-R 16X discs..
Is there any other way to save my project & use Nero or Roxio for burning my project to DVD ??? -
Well I tried burning it again, & get the same result "undefined".. & I don't know the correct procedure to save my finished project in any othr format, so I can burn it with another program.. wish I could as I just love DVD GUI.. I have 106 pictures in the slide show,.. yet when I burned the same pictures but only about 20 of them as a test, the disc plays on my DVD player.
-
Well, you could try to author the dvd structure in another program like Gui for dvdauthor or DVDauthor Gui(both can use dvdauthor instead of Muxman).
Another thing to try is to remove all bitrate heavy transitions from the slideshow(all pixels changed a lot over a periode of time). Maybe your dvdplayer has a lower max bitrate tolerance(just a wild guess).
Did you google the brand name of your dvd-player? -
Hi, Yes my Dvd is a Toshiba, & it is a combo VHS & DVD burner. I can put VHS tapes in & copy to DVD, or vice Versa.. what throws me is that it will play the DVD if I only put 10 to 20 slideson there, but as soon as I put more, then I get the UNDEFINED message..
I did get a couple of error messages while it was getting ready to burn. It said something about mis match on Pass 2 on slide 73, & 97.. but didn't stay up long, buy the burn was successful.. I am running Giu for DVD Author. I will try the other one.

Oh Oh, I think I'm getting in way over my head here.. I downloaded the 2 programs you suggested, But can't do anything with them. Your program still defaults to burn with Muxman..
I took the DVD's to several differen people here in the park, & won't play on any of their players, including a couple that were built in to the TV..
Is there anyway I can send you a 243 gig file, & you could tell me whst I'm doing wrong? or anyplace where I can get some tuition on using DVD Author instead of Muxman. I opened up DVDAuthor gui, but it doesn't do anything, can't even add pictures to it..
I wish there was someway for me to save the slideshow to a folder, & then burn it with Nero..
I love the slideshow I created, & would like to keep using it. -
Those programs are not for creating slideshows, but authoring dvds out of videofiles created somewhere else where like in DSG. The '.all' export from DSG will produce a video file m2v, an audio file ac3, a chapterpoint file .txt and a subtitle file .ssa. Which can be used(in some form - I can't remember - it's years ago since I worked on that) in those programs.
One thing you could try when making a dvd from DSG is to answer no to the 'Do you want to add backups of your original media to the disk?' - promt. This option will add a folder to the disk called 'Source' with the original photos. This folder is not a part of a standart dvd-structure, so maybe some dvd-players will choke on it? Mine doesn't.
Another thing you could try is to change all transitions into a very bitrate friendly transition like 'cut' and make a new slideshow. I hope you're using Re-Write-able disks, so you won't end up with a bunch of bad disks.Last edited by tin2tin; 9th Feb 2010 at 01:47.

Thanks for your reply & patience.
When it's doing Pass 2, I get a cuople of Warnings. First I get a small source mismatch found in pass 2, count 24 frames, & a bit later I get the same thing only it says pass 2, count 25 frames..
Would this have anything to do with my undefined notice..
I will try your suggestion in clicking no..
I tried a RW disk but my dvd player won't read CD's. I wanted to use Nero, but for some reason Nero wants to make a CD out of it not a DVD.. I exported it as an ISO file.. Still don't know why that one slideshow I did with just a few frames playds on my DVD player & the rest won't. That's why I'm thinking maybe Warnings I got has something to do with it. -
A small source mismatch doesn't necessary mean that the disk will come out bad.
Did you try this?Another thing you could try is to change all transitions into a very bitrate friendly transition like 'cut' and make a new slideshow.
You can't make dvds on cd-disks. Re-writeable dvd disks does exist too. -
Hi
It's very good soft, congratulation.
People in Europe waiting for export to 1920x1050 25fps
Thanks for all. -
@ johnnyo34
Great you solved it! That goes to show that pretty much every windows setup is different.
@ golemik
Well, I live in Europe too. I really wish I had know that back, when I added the other HD ratios. I did ask for the needed ratios, when I implemented the BD/HD stuff, and only got the 23.97 fps as a wish(I don't have a BD player). It's pretty time consuming to add more ratios, because a lot of things are affected by those... Of course I might change my mind if someone would translate DSG into Polish. Hint hintAs for now you could save as .avs and do a find/replace on the fps and then render the .avs with x264 or what you prefer.

Just came across a new slideshow by ChibiTomo81 on Youtube made in DVD slideshow GUI:
The first collage image is done with http://www.shapecollage.com/.

Or does it mean: there is NO support?
But maybe its a bug:
I tried a slideshow in 16:9-format.
At some picture i used animation(zoom), looks fine, but i have unwanted borders (left/right/up/down)
example:
I dont want these (blue) bars everywhere.
Is the program tested on windows2000? It crashes nearly 2-3 times per hour. So i have to save every few minutes. And saving could also be improved (i need 3 mouseklicks, a quick-save-function would be nice) -
Don't know if I'm in the right place here, but I've just installed DVD Software GUI. Played around with it and all works just fine. But I do have one problem. I set a background photo which borders the slideshow when the dvd is played on a widescreen TV. It distracts from the slideshow and I want to remove the background, but can't. I can find no means to remove a background once one is selected. (I can change it but not remove it). I even uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the background is still there. Short of finding a plain black photo to make the background, is there a way af removing it?
Hope you can help guys.
Dunworkin -
For both of you - please watch the tutorial(link in my signature) on how to change the background and adjusting the safe area.
There is no such thing as no background. If you want the photos to cover the entire background, you'll have to use the animation tool to zoom into the images(and some parts of the image will be cut). -
Hi, I didn't want to use the animation, so to get rid of the coloured margin to each side of the screen when I played a 4x3 photo on a 16x9 screen, I took a black photo (i.e. with the lens cap on). I used this as the backgound and now I can display 4x3 photos without distortion, but with a black margin each side, which looks much better. Everything else worked a treat. Thank you.

What is the maximum # of slides or time that the program can handle?
I'm unsuccesfully trying 1972, about 2gig in total size as .jpg... -
Alright noob questions. I noticed when u work in Subtitle section, adding Style Tags seems like hit and miss. Is there somewhere to figure out how to fine tune settings? I want to add wording centered over my pictures and fade them out. Is there a cheat list out there or again is it a figure out project?

I didn't code the vsfilter which produces the subtitles. Most of the ass tags are useable by vsfilter: http://aegisub.cellosoft.com/docs/ASS_Tags
On adding sutitle tags:
Highlight the text you want affected and then select subtitle tag, then all of the highlighted text should be affected. You could take a look at the tutorial video(4 min. mark)here. Notice the tag after the highlighted text which will remove the effect again.
Place the cursor right before the text you want affected and then select subtitle tag, then all of the following text should be affected.
However some subtitle tags will affect all text no matter where the tags are placed.
FadeIn/Out + Centered: {\fad(500,500)}{\an5} can aparently be placed anywhere in the text - and all text will be affected.
{\fad(500,500)}{\an5} is the same as {\fad(500,500)\an5} -
I need help with DVD slideshow GUI v9.3
Whenever I preview the slides currently being used, the screen is black. But, the subtitles show and cycle down normally.
I get the same results when I export the picture group.
I am using Vista (if that matters).
