I'm considering updating the firmware on my Pioneer A05 writer.
On the Pioneer web site there is this comment on the upgrade
Can anyone tell me what is meant by 'Version 1.1' and 'Version 2.0' media and how do you determine which you have. DVDinfo doesn't explicity mention this.If you are using older DVD-R for general Version 1.1 media it is recommended that you use up all this media before updating the firmware as after doing so this media may no longer be recognised by the writer or writing software being used. After the FW update only use DVD-R/RW For General Version 2.0 media. This will ensure that the writer provides optimum performance.

I very much doubt you or anyone else still has this "version 1" media. I remember similar warnings about this in March when I bought my burner and there was already then none of this kind of media on sale. I might be wrong.

Thanks, he who is all eights - I'm expecting that to be the case since version numbers are not generally discussed on this site, it must no longer be an issue of any importance.
I'll assume it's ancient history. -
I just bought version 1.1 DVD-RW discs 3 weeks ago. That's all that works in the JVC standalone.

Oh wait - I just had a look at one of my DVD-RW with a magnifying glass - and it's printed on the disk - in the small print, so these numbers only apply to RW disks then.

Yes, I don't think you would find any version 1 DVD-R discs, but DVD-RW version 1.1s are still around.
