I highly doubt that DVD DECRYPTER is slowing down your internet. Try using trendmicro's free virus scan to scan your pc for viruses.

  3. Turn your modem off & then on again. Sometimes this is all you need to do.

  7. you need to update your pc profile if you have an xp3200

certain apps drain all the pcs resources (eg widows movie maker) and mean that programs such as bit torrent struggle to work
you can often change the applications priority in order for it to not hog the cpu

do you only have problems when physically ripping the dvd or are you trying to say that merely having it installed on your pc is slowing your net down

usually virus scanning programs like norton and mcaffee are drains on systems resources also
avg is far less cpu intense

where are you getting the file that slows down from as unless its on a very fast server the problem could be with wherever you are getting the file from

Dvddecrypter has absolutely nothing to do with the net unless you tell it to look for an update every time you launch it.

  13. They are lots of speed test sites, I'd try them or the ATI site give me 700 K/sec for the drivers

That's what puzzled me. Why would anybody sacrifice download speed and security just to use Bit Torrent for something that could be acquired legally and easily. But sure enough it was there in print on Zeropaid (I think).

  16. As he's UK based the speed tester at adslguide would be a better idea. I would also guess he's using adsl.
To the OP which isp are you using ?
Hardly think dvd dycrypter will slow his speeds down as i use it when my adsl is maxed out at 1 meg and it has no effect at all and my system is no where near as fast as his.....
Only thing that could maybe do it is if they are both reading/writing to the same h/d and the drive is running slow... Long shot at best.

  17. You don't think it could be your isp, could it? Otherwise I would guess its a background process running that is eating up your internet connection. You could use the program Windows Startup Inspector from www.spychecker.com to determine what programs are not necessary to start up at boot. If that doesn't work and you think its your isp, talk to me about live-cds.
