I get a lot of movies that are in PAL SVCD format. I usually just convert them to NTSC DVD, but doing this really balloons up the size of the file. I'd like to be able to make it so I can shrink the size back down so I could fit more than one movie on a DVD. I was thinking that instead of changing it to DVD I could just change it to NTSC SVCD, but I was wondering if that would affect the quality any? Does reencoding it to a different SVCD format make it look worse than changing it to DVD? I was also thinking I could still keep it in DVD resolution, but change the bitrate to SVCD's, that way the file size would still be low. Is this a better idea? Thanks for any responses.

    Hello,

Why not encode to a lower dvd bitrate???? That way it would still be dvd but use up less space

Use a bitrate calculator to determine the rate for the amount of time you want:

You could also use halfd1 resolution 352x480

Yeah, that's what I figured would be the best thing to do. Thanks for the reply.
