  1. Ok, so today I go to copy a RAM disc, something I've done many times in the past, and TMPGEnc says cannot open file. I've tried different discs, same thing, any ideas why all of the sudden it won't work? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall maybe?

Sometimes your computer can have trouble depending on how the DVD-RAM disc was recorded.

For instance the Panny line of stand alone DVD recorders will mix resolutions sometimes on a single DVD-RAM (within a single recording) based on the running time and the menu settings (what I mean is that there is a setting in the menu system of the Panny's where you can disable this from happening).

The JVC stand alone DVD recorders can also use an "odd" non-DVD compliant resolution on DVD-RAM ... again depending on the running time (in this case I think it is around 2+ hours).

In these instances the DVD-RAM will cause "havoc" on your computer when you try to import it etc.

So it is possible you have one of these cases.

Of course there are other possible reasons such as your computer's DVD burner going bad and not reading the DVD-RAM discs correctly or maybe your stand alone DVD recorder is going bad. Maybe one or the other needs a cleaning etc.

  3. The burner is only a couple of months old and I don't even burn with it, just read once in awhile. It reads the disc, the window with the DVD_RTAV file opens after it reads it. All of my Panasonic recordings were in SP and I've copied dozens of them in the past, but now none of them work. I might to be able to copy to the desktop and do it that way, but that takes twice as long. Actually I don't know if I've copied one since installing TMPGEnc this last time or not. I had the trial version and did a bunch of them then. When the trial ended I uninstalled it and ended up buying the box version, I can't remember if I've done any since installing the last time or not.
