I normally use tmpegenc and liked the quailty, however the macroblocks are unbelieveible. I was wondering when doing a dvd2vcd rip is panasonic better? hows the sharpness when compared to tmepgenc? Are the macroblocks ALL gone? Has any one outthere had any problems with it?

  2. I like Pansonic a lot. It's great for MPEG-1 VCD standard stuff. It sucks for resizing but you can fix that by frameserving from VirtualDub.

I use it a lot when I want fast VCD standard conversions. Plus it doesn't have a macroblock problem... but I have never had a macroblock problem with TMPGEnc which makes me wonder why you did

  5. Flask .6 with 2.01 pana plug in and dvd2avi 2 TMPGnc (with ssrc) .

I've found Tmpgnc slightly better when using software enhanced programs to zoom x4 on still's of a vcd looking for macro blocks. Also found Tmpgnc handled black's better.

But when viewed on DVD player no noticable difference even with nose 1 inch of screen.

But it come's down to ease of use which do you prefer (personally Tmpgnc due to its handaling of aspect ratios but....)

Some may agree some may not (prefrence) or I may need a trip to the optition.

    But have fun...

  6. Panasonic is exceedingly good, and may be that little bit faster than TMPGEnc, though it depends on your circumstances. Though TMPGEnc is free...
