    I also thought that a bank was obliged to change the money for you. I am sure that is the case in the UK.

    It is LEGAL TENDER meaning it's acceptable anywhere.....

    But given the extreme amount that's probably why there was a limit placed on it..... Fair or not

    No, theres a limit of about £20 in coppers or something like that I am sure. Anymore and it is down to the banks discretion.
