  1. Here is the problem I am having.

    I have 2 Pioneer DVRA07XLA 8x8 drives with firmware version 1.18.
    I use BEALL DVD-R 1-4x printable disks.

Starting today I have not been able to burn a single disk. The disks will burn fine, and complete without any errors, but on the back of the disk you can see a different color ring in the middle. When I try to watch the disk it plays fine to start, then pauses at a certain point. Each disk pauses at the same point. You can hit chapter and skip that part, but you can not play thru it.

The only error I can see is the ring that is burnt in the back. It is about .5 inches from the center of the disk, and goes on for 1/8 inch then looks completely normal.

Both drives are in a stand alone duplicator, with an ACARD 1-3.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Consider a drive cleaner. Sounds like there might be some dirt interference.

As stackner said it's normal because of the speed as it is writing to the disc. Although others will beg to differ and say the disc has bad dye. I've had rings on my TAIYO YUDEN & MAXELL 4x DVD-R media from burns on my Plextor 708A & Pioneer 107D drive. They have no errors and playback fine. One thing I found is I can use a cheapass Princo media but I don't get no rings. Go figure!

Try another brand of media and see if those rings appear.
