  1. It's been asked before but I need your advice. Buying a PC to capture both VHS and Mini. Will the type of video card make much of a difference? My intent is to use the PC to create DVDs as a hobby and maybe a business down the road. Here are my choices...

    128MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon™ X300 SE

    128MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon™ X800 SE

    256MB PCI Express™ x16 Nvidia® GeForce 6800 GTO Graphics Card

What do I do and why? A newbie thanks you in advance.

The video card is only used when you display something on your monitor, or for the TV output. It does nothing for the capture other than display the results. I'd say get a decent one but don't other with a higher end one unless you plan on doing some gaming.

You should be more worried about what type of capture card/device you will be buying than what video card you will be buying.

Of course there is that "special case" ... ATI

ATI makes a line of video cards that can also capture. Usually they are called AIW (All In Wonder) or VIVO (Video In Video Out).
