Is there any audio/video quality difference when a PAL dvd is converted to NTSC?

    Thanks.

Oh, and also, what's the difference between ...

using Mpeg2 Works DVD Converter to change a PAL vob to NTSC

    versus

using Sizzle to author a PAL vob by selecting the "720x480 NTSC D1" video format?

  3. Well, there is a some difference of course, like with any re-conversion...DVD Converter is a helper tool I made cause some of my Customers asked me to do it...They wanted to reconvert private DVDs sent by their friends and colegues from Europe from PAL to NTSC to be able to watch them on their home players and TV sets...The tool works for them...

Regarding authoring..I dont think its a good idea to make a PAL VOB from NTSC MPEG2 file...DVD Studio PRO dont even let You import NTSC MPEGs if You set Your project to PAL...And vice versa of course..

Sorry, Serbian, what I meant to say was:

If I want to change a PAL dvd to a NTSC dvd, does DVD Converter convert the whole dvd automatically, or do I have to convert each vob "manually?"

    OR

Can I just use Sizzle 0.1, and manually build the dvd by selecting each (PAL) vob, and choose the video format output as "720x480 NTSC D1."

I've tried this Sizzle method on one of the PAL vobs, and it seems to work because now my dvd player will play it, but I don't know if this is the right way to do it. Will DVD Converter give me a better quality output?

Sorry if I misunderstood your reply, Serbian.

  5. If Sizzle method works for You then You dont need DVD Converter at all...And, no, it will not give You the better output...

  6. I just converted a PAL DVD to NTSC with DVD converter. The video is about 1hr 20 mins. long and it took about 3 hrs to do the job. Then put the video back together with functioning menus using DVD Studio Pro .. another 20mins .... The quality was very good. A very slight degradation in quality only if you are looking very closely.
Thanks Serbian for your help, and a nice app. !!!
