Trying to capture from VCR and for minimising loss of quality in transferring I ve bought a cable which is a Scart socket at the one side while it is an S-Video at the other. What I obviously mean is that I tried to use the Scart output of the VCR for throwing the data to the S-Video input of capture card.
The problem is than nothing was being transfered, no signal. I tried to do the same to watch the tape in TV (connecting to the S-Video of TV) but the same black screen, so it is not a capture card' s problem.
When I m doing the same thing taking from RCA jack of VCR and giving to RCA of capture card everything is ok.
Someone here told me that this kind of connection applies only for S-VHS signal and not for simple VHS. I dont think that this is true and I would like to have your opinion since I think a lot of you connect and capture thorough S-Video of your capture card.
I am not sorry of the 10 Euros I gave for the cable but for the inability to capture from scart to S-Video so your advice would be mostly appreciated!

Most likely you have a VCR menu that will switch on the S-Video output. Consult the VCR manual.
