After 21 coasters, I finally burned a good disk. I downloaded "ImgTool Burn" instead of "ImgTool Classic". After getting errors with Nero and DVDDecrypter right away and trying to make an ISO just to fail at burning that, I thought I might as well try it. FINALLY I get a good disk. It doesn't play in my JVC M555 player, but it does in my cheapo Apex. That's better than nothing. Now I'll try a different brand of disks to see if I can get them to play in the JVC. So if you've been having the same problems as I have, try "ImgTool Burn"!

I'll post this again to try to leave a link to the programs.

The only coasters I've ever made were whilst playing with write strategies on my Liteon (something pretty advanced). -
My computer has the following:
AMD 2700+
2-120GB HD Raid 0
1024 MB 400 MHz DDR Ram
Sony DRU-510A
ATI AIW 8500
I was using TDK 2x DVD-R and CompUSA 1x DVD-R. I tried using every combination of software that was talked about in these forums. I did get 2 good discs with DVDXCopy. When I had problems with my computer for a few months, I was told to reload Windows. When Earthlink changed something on their end for my cable connection, my problem then went away. Then when I reloaded DVDXCopy, it wouldn't run. That is when I found this website. The problem I am having is read errors at no specific point in the burn process. I have had pretty good luck with Imation DVD-RW. But when I try to burn a permanent copy, I get errors. -
Definite computer issues.
Your internet connection should have NOTHING to do with burning.
The problem may be well beyond the scope of this forum to figure out.
But as a start, try buying better media. Store-brand is a definite no-no, it's utter garbage 99% of the time. And 2x -R media? Hrm... -
yeh, cables faulty, not defragged in a while, not enough room on the hard drives for temp files, faulty burner, motherboard drivers not installed or out of date/or installed incorrectlycrap media(which it looks like you are using)--these are all factors to take into account when you have a problem like yours.

The internet problem wasn't just giving me problems burning. It was freezing up my computer completely. I know that it was Earthlink because after I called them about having problems getting on the internet, they did something on their end and my computer and connection has been fine since. I am going to try better media. I will be buying it off the internet because it is a lot cheaper also. I am going to try Prodisc or Ritek.

Let me repeat: if your machine HANGS due to your internet connection... there is something VERY VERY WRONG with it.
