    Hello,

Have you tried tmpgenc yet????? What programs/procedures are you using??? Does it have 5.1 audio???

Try looking through the guides on the left under "how to" for some avi-mpg conversion guides.

Download dvd2svcd. This will allow for avi input. You can set it up to convert the avi to vcd, svcd, or dvd. Just a bundled package that works with encoders like tmpgenc, canopus procoder, cinema craft encoder, and quenc. Once you get it setup correctly it will do everything for you!

    stapler,

Your probably using TMPGenc and its awful with VBR audio. Here's what I use:

    - Open up your xvid.avi with virtualdub.
    - strip out the audio to a .wav file. (See the guides for a couple of ways to do this)
    - Use Besweet (or other audio tool) to transcode it from (most likely) MP3 vbr to MP2 CBR (I use 192k,48k audio).
    - In TMPGenc use the xvid.avi as your video source and the output from Besweet as your audio source. Use the default DVD tmpelate or create one to your liking.

Rarely any problems and the video/audio sync is fine. Actually, I just did the whole 'The 4400' mini series this weekend with this method.
    Have a good one,

    neomaine
