    It's exactly the opposite. You can erase RW disks so you can use them over and over.
    If he can't get a DVD-R or DVD+R to work then there is an even less chance of getting a DVD-RW or DVD+RW to work.

    Normally I'd assume that a player that can play Divx files should be able to read just about any type of media. But I searched a bit and all the places I found that sold that player don't mention writable DVD media at all, only DVD-Video. Most have list like this:

    Podporovaná média: MP3-CD, CD-Video, S-Video, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-Video
    I suspect the player doesn't read DVD+/-/R/RW media at all.
