  1. Hello all,

I own a SONY DVP NS-325 DVD Player, and I have noted an strange behavior on it.

When I put on any a home burned DVD video on it, burned on a DVD+R or DVD+RW, or DVD-R (Can't test DVD-RW as my DVD burner doesn't support it) the player's LCD numbers start to run but they behave strange:

Normaly this is a correct read:

    01:25,
    01:26,
    01:27,

But instead of doing that, it reads:

    01:25,
    01:26,
    01:25,
    01:26,
    01:27,
    01:26,
    01:27,
    01:28,
    01:27,

and it does that from the begining to the end of the video I'm playing back.

Now the Video looks great and there are no pauses or fast skipping (once I had that behavior but it was the media [PRINCO] ) or video corruption at all. Just that strange number thing.

The Media I'm using now is:

    MAXELL

    DVD-R = Manufacturer: Maxell, Code: MXL RG02
    DVD+R = Manufacturer: Ricoh, Code: RICOHJPN R01

    IMATION

DVD+RW = Manufacturer: CMC, Code: CMC MAG W01
    DVD+R = Manufacturer: Ricoh. Code: RICOHJPN R02

Note on the Imation labeled CMC DVD+RW disks:

I use those disks for two things:

VIDEO EDITION: Used only for testing how the final video will look like.
DATA : Great media for large data backups.

    __________________________________________________ ___________

For the final video, I use (mostly):

    MAXELL DVD-R,
    MAXELL DVD+R
    IMATION DVD+R
    __________________________________________________ ___________

I know that the DVD+R discs, which are manufactured by Ricoh (RICOHJPN R01 & R02) are just of "Acceptable Quality" for many, but until now, I had no problems with any of them.

I don't think that could be the cause of the strange behavior with counter numers on my SONY DVD Player as it also happens with the MAXELL DVD-R discs.

Now for video edition I'm using:

    Licenced:

    Nero 6 Ultra Edition
    Cinema Craft Encoder - Basic

    Shareware or Freeware:

    Virtual DUB Mod
    BeSweet and BeSliced
    The AC3 Machine
    ReJig and/or IFO Edit
    SRT 2 SUP
    SUP Remap

Note: Final videos are set to be 4:3 Screen type, for NTSC.

Ok, I think I gave you all the information you may need, if something else is needed, please let me know.

¿ What can be causing that strange number behavior ?

As I said, the videos plays fine with no problems at all. That's the only strange thing I've noted.

¿Should I worry about it, can it be corrected?
    ¿Something wrong with the player?
    ¿Is this a common problem?

Any help comming from you people, is appreciated a lot, because I don't know what to do with that "thing" as I don't even know how to classify it: Problem, Bug in the DVD Player, a Video Edition mistake, or what.

    Thanks in advance,
    Edwin Gonzalez

  3. It is a very strange problem indeed. But I don't why is that happening.
It counts up, counts back and then up again. and that happens during all the time the video is playing.

But as I said, the video plays just fine.

Could this be a bug of the DVD player?

    Thanks for all.

    Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I will try DVD Shrink to see if this is a DVD software problem. I hope it is. If not, I will send thad DVD Player to SONY to see what's going on with it. I beleive that this is problem with the DVD player itself.

Thanks for all. I will let you know know what happens after DVD Shrink.

    Sincerely,
    Edwin Gonzalez

I have an NS700P that does the same thing on some burned discs, no idea why. It's never caused an issue that I know of.

  6. Strange problem, isn't?

Not a real problem but still strange, it isn't supposed to do that.
If any one have a clue on why this happens, please let us know.

    Thanks in Advance,
