Changing The Booktype on DVD+R's ??

Hi
I have a Lite-On SOHW-8125, DvdinfoPro, Kprobe 2.4.2.
Whenever i use DVD Decrypter to change the book setting to DVD-ROM on a dvd+r and then write the image with DVD Decrypter afterwards DvdinfoPro still shows the dvd+r as "Book Type DVD+R" when i use Kprobe, which does not have a burning feature that i know of, i have to burn it back with nero but it still shows under DvdinfoPro as dvd+r.
What do you need to use to change the book type to show or be dvd-rom ?

Go to cdfreaks.com,they have a liteon booktype setting app plus they have dvdrw omnipatcher that will patch your firmware so its set to dvd-rom bitsetting automatically.

Try using the Lite-On BitSetting utility.

It may or may not work for your model:

This tool only used for LITEON drives (specific models only). Not all
of the LITEON DVD ReWritable drives support this BookType utility.

Okay, i'll give those a shot.
When i use DVD Decrypter and recheck or "query" it says it is changed but after i burn it DvdinfoPro say's it's not ? i figured if DVD Decrypter & Kprobe was saying it was changed it would be & my model was capable of being changed ?
Thought i read somewhere that Stomp record now max would burn it back without changing the book type because nero set's it back to dvd+r when burned ?

I also see the Lite On bit setting utility has a Burn Now button ?
And when i choose to change it, it says it was changed successfully & to use nero or whatever ??

A Yes the new Plextor DVD recorder support bitsetting, although the PX-504A does not. The Plextor PX-708A/UF drives support bitsetting when firmware 1.08 (or higher) is installed, the PX-712A/UF/SA drives need firmware 1.05 (or higher) installed. The bitsetting option can be enabled via the Nero software (v6.3.1.25 or higher), DVDInfo Pro software (v3.29), or PlexTools (v2.17 or higher). It's preferred to enable the bitsetting option via the PlexTool software because once you enable bitsetting via PlexTools it will always be used, meaning that you don't have to enable it every time or have PlexTools running in the background. Of course, you can disable or enable bitsetting at any time using PlexTools, meaning that it's not permanent.

P.S. You might want to try a quick search on the web first... 'Plextor PX-708A bitsetting' gave those above results on the top of the stack.

you need to edit your registry first before installing PLEXTOOLS and use the latest version of NERO BURN 6.6 or 6.3.1.25 and use Plextor 708 firmware 1.08. USA bought drives did not have PLEXTOOLS included until the 712A drive was released.

1. open up notepad then copy and paste the following down below, name the file plex.reg
__________________________________________________ ___________

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Juxtaposition]
@="11111111"
"Parameter"="11111111"
__________________________________________________ ____________

2. then save the file like in my documents.
3. right click on that plex.reg file that you saved in my documents, then click on merge, it will install the plex.reg file into your windows registry.
4. install plextools, reboot pc
5. open up plextools, click on the 708A drive, click on drive settings, click on advanced make sure there is a check mark in the CHANGE BOOKTYPE FOR DVD+R.


The key to installing this is you have to do the windows registry edit first then install plextools. good luck!

Do you know if version 6.0.0.0 of nero will work for the plextor ??
Or will he have to download the newest one ?

I have 6.3.1.25 installed & v6.6.0.1 Ultra Edition downloaded but not instlled yet.

NERO 6.0.0.0 will not work in order to enable BITSETTING for the 708A drive. NERO 6.3.1.25 OR 6.6 will enable BITSETTING for the 708A drive.
