Just a thought here...I also use ATI MMC to capture...the only time that it just "stops" is when I have run out of disk space

What format are you capturing (AVI or MPEG)? Makes a BIG difference in terms of file size...

Do you have SCENE DETECTION turned on?

Do you have DEVICE CONTROL turned on?

Either of those can sometimes cause this problem.

  4. How long after you start capturing does it stop? it may be because you have a fat32 file system,Not NTFS..? Just a thought.....

  5. I have it on DVD quality and MPEG-2. But i know I have plenty of space I mean it shouldnt stop after a half an hour and even after that time I have plenty left,

  6. It usually stops around 30 mins my last time stopped at 26 mins. And I am using NTSC.

Do you have SCENE DETECTION turned on?

Do you have DEVICE CONTROL turned on?
    Where is that option?

  7. NTSC is the file format for the Video. NTSF format is your Harddrive.Just right Click on your Hardrive and Click Properties and it should list your file System. If it is Fat32 then you can not have a Single file over 4 Gb. and this may be your problem. the file is over the limit or will be.In any case fat32 cant go over that limit. I think there may be ways around it.but your best bet would be to format the drive to NTSF or get a new drive with that system.

Also...what version of MMC are you using?

When ever I start to capture as soon as i click anything it will stop.
what do you mean by this?

  13. When ever I start to capture as soon as i click anything it will stop.
When I say this I mean that any time I click on something while the captureing is taking place it will stop.(Only happens in Vdub)

Go to Capture -> Settings, select the desired Abort Options.

To see file system type open My Computer, right click on drive in question (C, D, etc), select Properties. Look at line labeled "File System:".

Your problem could be with ATI capture. If everything on your PC looks right then try capturing with VDub or something else. I used to use Premiere to capture (an old version) but could never capture more than 4 gig chunks. Premiere documentation swore that this was a function of my PC not Premiere. However, when I use VDub or iuVCR I can easily capture an hour of video. So, try something other than ATI. At this point i recommend iuVCR over VDub. VDub has been a great program, especially for free, but I don't think it's up to current standards. Personally I like capturing in YUY2. VDub only captures in RGB and I can't get VDub to capture at 720 x 480.

Your problem of the capture stopping when you click anywhere is because of how you have VDub set up. Go to Capture Settings and you will find settings for "Stop Capture On" uncheck every box except "Escape." Then the only way you can stop the capture process is by hitting the escape key.

    Two things:
    1. Do you really have an ATi card, and which one?
    2. Use ATI MMC, not Virtual Dub for best results

  18. Okay, I finally finished a complete movie capturing 1 hr and 21 min. I used YUY2 and it was a .avi I can play it fine, gets sorta squarish when fast movement occurs. But when I went to put it in to Adobe it was upside down, no sound and all multicolored... I can watch it fine with WMP and such but it comes in really bad with premier. Problems?

Use ATI MMC 8.7 or newer.
    Follow ATI guides at www.digitalFAQ.com
    Easy as that.

Yes, You can decrease (or increase)it depending on the codec used and the compression level. It will be drastically reduced when you convert it to DVD compliant mpeg, stick with AVI if your going to edit your footage.Try the guides LS suggested.
