Hi,
Maybe my problem was posted before but can`t find some answers to it.
Anyway what i need to do is merge an subtitle with an avi file. So i`ve looked over some tutorials and tryied to use VirtualDub.. VirtualDubMod .... Nandub and so on (basicaly they are the same prog with some modif).
When i try to open the avi it gives me an error like " VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding" and then he rewrite the audio to CBR (dunno` what is this anyway i`m kind noob at this). So the result is that the audio is delayed from vide file.
Next problem is when i try to add the subtitle to the movie.
I use a filter "TextSub 2.23" and now the subtitles work. Next step is to export the move as avi. Problem is that the new movie will have about 7 gb after i export it...
Now i need to know if anyone have any ideea hot to make the sound and video to match and why the hell the exported avi has 7 Gb.

Thanks.

Hi oakyz,
The error message means that the audio in your file was encoded using a Variable BitRate (VBR) rather than a contant bitrate (CBR). Chances are it's MP3...
Use VirtualDub to extract the audio to a WAV file and use that as your audio source with the original video - that should eliminate synch problems.
Unless, of course, there's also bad frames... VirtualDub can scan for, and fix, this too.
When you're exporting the movies VirtualDub, by default, exports to uncompressed AVI - hence why you're getting such a large filesize.
It's been a while since I've added subs using VirtualDub (and didn't do it very often - just trialling), but you need to set it to use a video codec (the same as the current one is best - use AVICodec ro find out what that is) as well as picking up the subs.
At the same time, you can tell it to use your WAV as the audio source, and... ...fingers crossed! There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

Well i`ve found that VitualDub dosen`t support VBR and NanoDub can work with VBR but i`ve fixed the prob by extracting mp3 file from movie and then use it as Audio. Thanks for the help with movie size
fixed that too. Now i wonder why i get 30-40 fps when i start saving the movie and after 1 -2 mins it drops to 15-16...
Thanks anyway. -
Glad I could help...
I don't know about the fps problem - I'm gonna guess that coz you got VBR MP3 that the source is either Divx or Xvid. They invariably are downloads and created by others, and so the problem could be with the way it's been encoded...There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
