  1. I have a .avi video file and since it doesn't play in quicktime (standard) i recon it's encoded in xvid at a high resolution (hdtv)

I'm planning on importing those file into idvd, but i encounter a few problems here:

since idvd doesn't support xvid i have to decode/encode it into a file that is supported

would that be .mov only or does idvd also support .mpg or divx?

What program can i use to decode the xvid file?

i hope you can help me out

    greets

    benny

Use ffmpegX to convert to mpeg2 for DVD. Choose DVD hi-bitrate from the presets.

Also you should give more specifics about the mpeg4 file you have (res, aspect ratio, audio) - to be able to help out more.

  3. it's a .avi

    Divx 960x528
    23,976 fps
    1973kbps (240,8kbyte/s)
    audiocodec: framecopy (format=2000 chans= 6 rate: 48000 bits)

since i'll be making the menu's in idvd i'll try to encode the file into a mpeg4 .mov tonight

    i hope it'll work
