If TMPGEnc worked in the past for you but does not work now then you need to consider a few things.

What changes, if any, have you made to your computer since? Installing or updating software, firmware, codecs etc. all count as does any hardware changes be it eliminating or adding hardware.

Are you sure there is not a problem with the AVI files. I admit this sounds somewhat unlikely since you said you have tried several different AVI files but the possibility still exists that the AVI files you have tried as of late have "issues" with them.

Usually when TMPGEnc "acts up" in the way you are describing it has something to do with the ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS.

I guess I would try uninstalling TMPGEnc and then reinstalling it. If that doesn't work then I would fiddle around with the ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS i.e., the tab called "VFAPI plug-in".

You might also want to try multiple method of importing your AVI into TMPGEnc.

    For instance try:

1.) Opening the AVI directly into TMPGEnc
2.) Open the AVI in VirtualDubMod and frameserve to TMPGEnc
3.) Use an AviSynth AVS script to import the AVI into TMPGEnc

Another reason why TMPGEnc could be "acting up" is if you made any changes to the codecs on your computer. If that truely is the problem (and this has happened to a lot of people in the past) then it can be next to impossible to fix. Usually the only real way to fix that is to blow out your HDD and re-format and re-install your OS and programs, etc. but make sure you only install the codecs you ABSOLUTELY need.

    I wish you luck!

It's a Gremlin. There's one running around loose inside your computer. You're going to need a five gallon bucket of water and a ball peen hammer to fix this. Send me a PM and I'll give you all the details.

Is that a cat with some sort of mellon on his mellon ... or is it one of the dreaded space alien cats from planet Kickurass in the STFU galaxy?

Either way I get the creeps looking at it! :P

You'll have to ask makntraks for the answer to that one. I'm just taking it for a test drive.

It pwns though, does it not?
