  1. Howdy guys

Im in the process of learing how to convert Xvid/avi/Svcd. I have a Xvid/avi file that im working on. Im using the DIKO tool and the Virtual dub tool to convert and Author the file.

Im working with the DIKO guide also on this site. Ive configured Diko and now im working with Virtual Dub. I'm up to a stage in the tutorial that I dont quite understand.

I think it is maybe step 5 in the Virtual dub part of the tutorial (after the Diko confuguration). Any way it says to Drop down the "file" tab in Dub and select and browse to the Video source- Ive done that.

Now the bit that i dont get. Firstly it says something about limiting the "quality" of the sample by selecting the button that is not "blurred". I dont know what button it is talking about- all of the buttons along the bottom of the Virtual dub window are clear ??

What does this mean?? , i cant find blurred buttons, is this important??

    Thanks Yowie

Ok ive mucked around with DIKO and Virtual dub a bit more. I downloaded Subtitle Workshop and tried to find subtitles.

I still cant work that bit out. I dont know where any subtitles are. In fact I dont really understand their relivance and whether I need to worry about them.

But it does annoy me that i cant follow what appears to be simple on the tutorial. In fact- What are we actually talking about here?? What are the subtitles for and how are they relavant to the Clip.???

I had some partual success with VirtualDub though. I created a 1 minute Sample to Convert and saved it.

I then went back to DIKO and browsed to that sample and loaded it into the box in "New Conversion" window.

I then hit the convert button down the bottom of the tab. It went through a process for about 50 seconds and then came up with an odd error.

A little box came up that said:-

    ERROR 19 Pulldown failed

Enabling the 3:2 pulldown flag via pulldown.exe
Returned an error flag. You can configure
DIKO to ignore this failure (sometimes it doesn't
    cause problems).

Can someone please firstly tell me what the relavance of the subtitles and where to find them and also the meaning of the error 19 error

    Thanks Yowie
