Not usually, depending maybe on the media.I actually have tested this theory. I have burned 8x TDK +R (CMAGE01) @ both 2.4x and @8x and the 8 x burns were better on 3 tests with my NEC 3500.

Firmware updates or a better burner or better media are usually the only remedies. The media seems ok but you don't mention you r burner or firmware revision.

  3. When I record at 4X, my discs often skip and pause in the later parts when played back on my set top player. If I record at 2X, there are no problems with playback. So, in my case, 2X creates a much more compatible disc. I've found this is true with both Maxell and Verbatim discs.

    What burner and firmware ?

If people don't put their computer details in the area where they should go, could you please at least state what kind of burner and the firmware you are using so people have a point of reference ?

My Pioneer 104 burns 2x media better at 1x also but it hasn't had a firmware update in well over a year.

It really depends on the burner i believe.

I have 16x Verbatim media that gives me better Kprobe scans burned on my NEC 3500 than media i burned 2 years ago at 1x on my Pioneer 104.

Slower burning could help but it would be my last resort after a firmware upgrade. After all, why buy a Ferrari to go 15 miles per hour, quality being equal or better ?

Scottie there have been 2 firmware upgrades since 110a so i would try the latest 112a first before lowering my speed. If you don't get better results, then i would troubleshoot and try another DVD player.

If it only skips on one player, it could be the player. Then try a slower burn and see if it does help you.Really you are the one who can tell us if it helps.

I had that burner. I sent a set of 23 discs burned on it to someone who said that every disc had problems with the last 2 episodes on her Toshiba player. I sent her copies of the same discs done on an NEC 3500 and they played fine. I had 1 other person tell me that some discs I sent her burned with the LG would pause for a second. The LG isn't a very good burner I don't think. I sent mine back and got the NEC, a far better burner. The LG wasn't a very good reader either. The $9 Toshiba burner I bought will read discs that the LG used to choke on.

  9. Thanks for your INfo, it might be the Drive, I just upgraded my whole PC but the Hard drive and I thought it might be the drive also but my old LG I used to have worked great, I might try to switch back with it.

    Thanks for your info.

I just updated to the newest firmware

  11. I think I know why all the troubles tell me what you think.

My old burner I only used CloneDVD then I got my new one and switched to Nero I use shrink and Reaurthur just the main movie and take all the extra Audio and save it as an image.

then I use Nero and burn the image to disc but I have to choose all files before it sees the image I think this is way all the bad burns.

    what do you think ?

Going to buy a 25 Spindal of Merorex tomorrow and test it out.
