Phiips 612 - NTSC / PAL

Does anyone know if this player can do both?

The manual is unclear about it - the 622 definitely can...but not so sure about this one.

Will I be likely to get any problems if I am limited to PAL..ie. with VCD /SVCDs? or should everything play ok regardless?

The manual says you can switch by turning it off at the wall then holding play and ff when you turn it on to give you a menu...all I got when I do this is an electric shock from the bloody thing ...

please help me before I electrocute myself

yes it can play both as I tried myself. the main thing you have to check is not the player really but the TV! The player will more or less play anything you shuv into it, but if the TV is not multi-standard, then black and white for you dude.

Any TV not 5 years old should play both Pal and NTSC no worries.

Just do like me and burn 2 VCDs, one PAL and one NTSC and take them to the shop, tell the salesman to try them for you and see what happens. Only to make sure the player is good for you and this worked for.....

My tv does pal and ntsc no probs - got a US Dreamcast thro it.

So have u ever had a shock from your player? or is just me...
