Relisys RTL1720 LCD TV, comments.

Going to buy one of these for the bedroom, anyone got one or own any other relysis screen.

What are they like, picture quality, build quality etc.

Budget is around £350, reason I was going to go for this one is they have it in my local asda wallmart and with the wifes discount I can get it for £333

Russ can you point me to a particular thread on that sight concerning this TV.

I am not too keen on purchasing online as I am wary of the dead pixel problem. I figue if I buy in a store locally I will be able to exchange if there are any dead pixels, where I will not be able to if I buy online.

I was wary of buying online as well, a very good online store is av-sales.co.uk who will change dead pixels, all of my gear has come from them.

I have a Philips 17pf9945 in my kitchen which is a very good lcd, has the radio on it also.

I will look for a thread for you in about an hour, really busy at the moment.

However at that price, it is exceptionally good but Relisys in general do get quite a poor review for their tv's.

I have been browsing the forums there and there are good comments on the set as well as bad. Some of the bad ones I am aware of such as it not having a scart input. This does not really bother me as I will probrably use s-video anyway. I am really tight for space at the back of the DVD player and scart connections are really bulky sticking out around 50mm from the back of the DVD, s-video will take up less space. I cant warrant another £200 to go for a phillips or sony for a bedroom set.

I stand corrected that does read quite well. I have heard of some nightmare issues with it but if it is from a local store then you have some comeback especially as the missus works there.

Yeah I spose for a bedroom set £350 is enough.

Pretty soon, I am currently decorating the bedroom that it is going in. It worked out really well the wall that I wanted the TV on is actually a twin skin wall, but is now an internal wall where the house has been extended. So I have knoked a hole in the wall removing 1 skin for the TV to sit in, should look pretty neat when its finished. The depth of the hole is around 190mm which is plenty for a TV but I also want a DVD in there so I am currently looking for a DVD player with a very low depth. I have found some JVC's which are about 190 deep but then you have the connecters on the back (so idealy I would like one even less deep than that. Asda do a really small one but it is a top loader and as it will be on a shelf below the TV that might be a problem.

I have a Pioneer 575a which is really shallow, not sure if it is that shallow though.

Well it seems shallow to me, if I come across one I will be sure to let you know.

If you want any advice post on that site above, that is where I learnt all of my home cinema knowledge.
