  1. I have many mpg's, I want to make them into a dvd.
I used dvdsanta to create the dvd-video files then I used TMPGENc dvd author to create the menus.

My question is this., Is there a better program than dvdsanta to create dvd-video compliant from mpg's ?

    Thanks in advance

Have you tried just putting the mpeg files into TMPGEnc DVD Author (use the 'Add File' button), make the menu and then create the DVD?

That would only work if the MPEGs are DVD-compliant to start with.

I use TMPGEnc Plus for all my encodes to DVD-compliant MPEG-2 files.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yes, it will not allow me to do that because TMPGEnc DVD author will only create the menus. Also most of the files are not allowed to even make it to the screen. too many errors. Plus when I went to tried to "output"
the program just shut down automatically(wierd)..

Thanks , also Thank you jimmalenko I am downloading TMPGENc Plus right now I will post again with final results..

I have no idea why people keep using DVD Santa. What a piece of crap. This is simply a tool for the lazy (those unwilling to do real work, having the "do it all for me in one click" mentality), and it generates lots of complainers (not surprising in the least bit).

Switch to real methods: encoder to encode, authorware to author, transcoder to copy DVD9, etc.

There is NO SUCH THING as an "all in one" solution. As we all know, the "one size fits all" t-shirts never fit worth a damn, and this is no different. While a blowtorch can dry clothes, make toast and weld metal, it's not a good idea to use it for all of these uses. You'll likely end up with a t-shirt torch, black toast, and if you're lucky, bonded metal. Same here. Pick the right tool for the job.

  6. I tried to use the guide for TMPGEnc here:

    http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/54/59/

I keep getting the same error message at the end right before it encodes,
    here is the error message:

:Read error occured at address 00012F40 of module TMPGEnc.exe with 20656850:

  7. I have tried both of the guides,

    http://www.digitalfaq.com/convert/tmpgenc/tmpgencplus.htm
    and
    http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/54/59/

I also read up on numerous articles trying to find the problem, I keep getting the same error:

Read error occured at address 00012F40 of module TMPGEnc.exe with 20656850

I also tried to run it through TMPEGnc Dvd Author but it shuts down automatically.

Here is what I want to do:

I have about 300 music videos on wither mpg or mpeg(unknown exact format.) I have been working with TMPEGnc Plus and TMPEGnc Dvd Author.

TMPEGnc Plus I worked with and it gets down to the last detail right before it gives me the error message "Read error occured at address 00012F40 of module TMPGEnc.exe with 20656850"

Should I email the company or what can I do?
Or is there any other guides or help on this that I can read upon?
I don't know if I should keep wasting my time, just for the damn music videos that I want on dvd.

    Thank You

Here's one thing you can try that I discovered with TMPGEnc Plus. If you get an error and it stops encoding, the file is still usable. Just encode up to the point where it hangs up- make a note of the frame where it stopped. Then restart (either TMPGEnc or the computer- whichever is necessary to get started again). Set a new start point a couple frames past the point where you got the error and start encoding again. Repeat until you get the whole thing encoded.

When you're done you can load all the files into DVD Author. It won't be perfect, but if there's just a couple frames that you have to skip you it won't be that noticable.

Also, when you load multiple clips into DVD Author you tend to get a slight hesitation when it plays, so if you want you can use an mpeg (or mpg- same thing) editor and combine all the clips into one big file and load that. (I think you combine them with TMPGEnc Plus' merge-cut function if you don't have an mpeg editor.

  10. I cannot even get for it to start encoding BobK but I know what your saying. I tried about 4 diffrent sources with no luck.

Is there any other programs maybe I should try?
