DVDShrink method is simple but it doesn't keep original menu's just in case you want them

did you try following the guide if you want menu's and insert a swap DVD graphic?

  6. One of my favorite way's to split a DVD to two disks:
    • re-author movie-only with DVDShrink for disk 1, with mild compression if neccessary
    • full backup with DVDShrink for disk 2, setting main movie to still image

A major advantage of this appoach is that it doesn't create a flipper - you don't have to get up half way through the movie to change the disk. The approach is also dead simple.

If you're working with a disk where the movie and all the extras are about the same size, you can alternately do disk 1 as full backup setting all the extras to still image.
