    Hey Everyone,

I'm ripping my own VCDs and putting them on DVD. I know I don't have to convert to MPEG2 either. I was wondering if the video or sound quality improves when you convert to mpeg2. If not, then I'm just gonna save time and put the files str8 on dvd.

Every conversion only causes quality to degrade. Put it to DVD as-is.

    If you filter it, possibly.
I've successfully filtered many VCDs in DVD, and improved audio and video along the way. Simple (well, maybe not THAT simple) restoration work.

I am not quite sure that I understand. But if you have the orginal source in better condition than your VCD then I would say to make all new captures and DVDs. This will allow for extras and such and changing the settings. If all you have is the VCDs and they are already DVD compliant you will only be transfering data and shouldn't loose anything that you already have
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

ok well thanks for everyone's response. I'll just start putting it on DVD as is. Come to think of it, I never noticed a change in video quality anyway. I didn't know the video quality degrades everytime it's converted. Thanks a lot for telling me that.

  7. If you are playing back on a standalone I believe you are going to have to upsample the audio first from 44.1k to 48k
