Hi, I want to buy a DVD standalone recorder but before I want to know if I can use all kind of DVD speed support (4x-8x-16x) or I can use only some speed support (ex. <4x). (I know that DVD recorder can write only at 1x but what happens if I use 4x DVD+RW that is manufactered only to write for 2x and 4x speed?)
I asked to LG customer support (I want to buy LG DR4912 dual format DVD recorder) but they cannot say answer to me.
Thanks in advance,
Davide

EDITED
I've used up to 4x blanks. It works on all but HQ speed.
I was comparing HQ recording on cheap 2.4x with cheap 4x disk.
The 2.4x froze the moving logo (CMV) at the beginning
the 4x did not.
Also the 2.4x skipped and froze from 45minutes on.
The 4x did not until 50 minutes.
Both were cheap supermedia.com disks
I assumed the newest firmware would handle the newer disks.
