Sky and DVD Recorder Scart problems

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hiya guys,

I was trying to sort my dads SCART connections out last night. Just when i thought it was all sorted i was getting really bad interference on analgoue channels. (unwatchable - sort of a cross link between sky and analogue - see further down)

Here is the list of Equipment im using:

Ferguson TV (32 inch) with 2 scart inputs (1 rgb, 1 composite)

Panasonic E55 Dvd Recorder (2 Scarts, in and out both RGB compatible)

Sky Digi box (2 Scarts, 1 (bottom one is RGB Out)

AIWA VCR (not essential but handy for copying VHS to DVD - and no RGB facility)

The problem i was getting last night was that the SKY RGB connection was badly interfering with analogue channels on the TV's 1,2,ITV, 4, and 5

Heres how i had it setup.

SKY rgb scart (labeled TV) -> DVD recorder AV1. (this way, so i can record RGB signals to DVD recorder)

DVD recorder AV2 -> TV AV1 (RGB IN)

Ariel RF in to DVD recorder, so i can record analogue channels, which looped out back into the TV

(should the RFs go into Sky rather than the DVD recorder maybe?- if so, how can i record analgoue tv to DVDr recorder?)

SKY is set up for RGB and Scart Control.

And in the Panasonic E55 menu setup - both Scarts were set to RGB and NORMAL. (not DECODER)

Does what the setup seem correct!?

Also, when its setup like this, i only have one Scart socket left over in all the equipment (except the empty 2nd TV one), the empty one is the top SKY digibox one...

....But id like to be able to record from the VHS VCR to DVD recorder also - can i feed one of the VCR outputs into the Vacant 2nd scart of the digi box!? if i can, how would i then switch between the sky and vhs when i want to record the outputs of either or both to the DVD recorder?!

To summarise, i want to be able to record from Sky digi to DVD recorder in RGB and view it in RGB.

Id also like to be able to record from VHS to DVD RECORDER

Also, i'd still like to have the option to record normal RF signals to DVD (just in case sky goes down or whatever)

Id also like to VIEW analogue channels on my TV (without the interference) through plain old RF connectors.

Sounds hard, but im sure its not.

Any ideas, where im going wrong?

PS i mentioned interference above -- what i MEAN is - When SKY is on, and i flick to an anglogue channel on the TV, u see a vertical scrolling of the sky image, BUT with the sound of the analogue channel.

HELP!!!! and many thanks for reading.

    Manik.

  2. I am not at home at the moment, but the following is the way that I have my Panasonic DMRE55 set up.

I don't have Sky, but I do use a Freeview STB. This is connected to the Panasonic through AV2.

AV1 is connected to my Sony TV.

I record from VCR to the Panasonic using composite video connection to the AV4 input.

RF is connected via an amplifier to TV, VCR, Freeview STB and the Panasonic.

    I don't use a loopthrough.

If I understand the Panasonic manual correctly you have to use AV1 as the output for the TV - you appear to be using AV1 and AV2 the wrong way round.

  3. There have been some previous Sky topics similar to this, have a search for SKY & see if they show up.
