I'm trying to capture an 8mm tape. When I view it through my 8mm camcorder viewfinder, it looks fine. But, when I try to capture it through virtualvcr, it is very jerky. I believe this problem is because this tape is from Kenya (a PAL country as far as I can tell). My question is this: Is there any way to capture this correcly without a PAL playback device? I can work on the 25fps to 29.97 fps issue later. Someone I know is insistent that if we just connected it to a VCR, it would look fine on a VCR tape. I don't think that is true (and I havn't even spent the time to check either). Any ideas?

If your camcorder can playback the tape corectly on a tv then you shouln't have any problem capturing it (assuming you use PAL settings for capture). If it doesn't look ok on the tv, then your camcorder isn't capable of handling PAL tapes.
