I am using Video Explosion deluxe to render footage into MPEG-2 format, average file size about 1 gb. After many successful files made, now when I try to render anything , about half way thru the process my computer shuts down. I uninstalled and reinstalled, same result. I then reformatted my drive, imported new footage, recut and tried to render it, and again it shuts down. I've tried a few different programs, etc and the only time i can get the computer to duplicate this is during the rendering process.
Has anyone ever run across this problem before? After reformatting and reinstalling, I'm thinking it's not a software problem, but anything more and I'm stumped. Hardware? but what?

Hello, Something similar happened to me... Computer would restart whenever I was rendering my DV files to mpeg-2....!!
It turned out to be overheating Ram modules that was causing the restart. What I did was to get one of those 3 inch square fans and hooked it up in the computer case so that it was pointed right at the Ram modules.
Problem solved.... NO RESTARTS... and it's been 18 months since I added the fans...!:P
Give it a try... and see if it works...!

Overheating CPU can cause it to do that too, check your heatsink that it's not all packed with dust.
