I haven't defraged for a while, so I figure I would go ahead a do it. The only thing is, last time I did, it took me a day before I could get back online. Not sure why. Does defraging do anything to the HD that would cause such a disturbance, or would being disconnected for a day be just a freak accident!?

Shouldn't unless something went very wrong. But if it did it wouldn't just let you back on after a while. You would have to fix the problem first.

It was just a freak accident.
Defragging just moves your file fragments closer to each other so that your programs and data are read and start up faster.
Defragmenting has absolutely nothing to do with a internet connection. -
Yep.
If you don't have a connection turn off your computer & modem & turn back on. -
I have to work on my computer (just changing/adding CD and DVD drives) with the power plug still connected. If I remove the power from the computer...my wireless internet connection(USB) looses contact with the base unit and it is a real BITCH to get back up and running again.
You have to go to a web address (numbers - not a .com address) to activate your internet connection. Hell...if I can get to that numbered address...why can't get anywhere else?... -
maybe your isp was down at that time??? haha, yeah defrag wouldnt mess with your internet. its a good thing to defrag at least once a week
