  1. I was wondering...

I have configured my Linksys wired router and computers for file sharing and haven't had any problems. I am able to access all shared files on either computer across the network (using 10/100 cards). However, what I don't seem to be able to do is to view a DVD across the network. Perhaps it is a limitation or configuration issue with my Intervideo WinDVD4 that I am using (only software player loaded). I am able to select individual MPEG2 files and even a playlist of all of the VOBS from a Video_TS folder on my hard drive but I can not chose "Play DVD From Folder" and get the disc to play in that fashion.

I have yet to try to play back from an actual disk as I haven't shared my optical drives (just thought of trying that...I will test tonight hopefully). I don't want to load another player at this time if it is simply a configuration issue. One more thing...my network utilization when playing the VOBs from a playlist is only around 17% so my connection isn't maxed out.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    babyboo,

Have you tried opening the folder on the remote PC with explorer, then in the tools menu, select "Map Network Drive". It'll let you assign a drive letter to the remote HD and if you check the box, it'll attempt to reconnect from that point on every time you restart the PC.

I had to do that to use Nero to burn files from an ethernet 100B-T connected machine. Some apps have to actually see it as a legitimate drive to allow what you're trying, so this ought to work

  3. Thanks Cap...I will try it. I have just been navigating to the folder on the shared drive through the application. I haven't mappd any of my shared drives in the manner you describe. I will give it a shot!!
