Actually, no one I know said "groovy", either. We just heard it said a lot on The Partridge Family - and especially on The Brady Bunch. Hmm. No one admits to saying it, but it was one of the most popular words around. Since I was only 13 in 1970, it wasn't really something I could imagine myself saying at that age. I think I mostly said "Cool".

Mostly hippies were into saying "Peace", not Junior High school kids like me. I do have vague memories of flashing the peace sign, though. Since I didn't have to worry about the draft for 5 more years, it really didn't have a lot of meaning to me. It was just something to do because I saw older kids (and hippies) doing it.

Don't remember anyone saying Out of State or Harvey, but definitely remember saying Farm Out and Right Arm, and I think we said it only because the original phrases got so tiresome that it had to be changed somehow just so you wouldn't scream when you heard it said. Heh. I'd forgotten all about those phrases. See what age does to you?

    *Note*
Any so-called punk band released post-1990 should be considered neo-punk or something other than punk. Punk is really no longer a genre... since the basis of 90% of the music on rock radio has it's roots in 1970's era punk. And punk, sprung from a sub-culture. So, with that in mind, I don't think you could necessarily call today's punk... punk... because it's no longer really a subculture... just a bunch of pretentious twenty-something, no-talent morons.

P.S. No punk list is complete without giving props to the following:

    The Ramones
    The Misfits

    Screw the Sex Pistols!!!!
