I can't suggest a particular model. I have a no-name unit that works well. What I would suggest is a combo Firewire/USB2 unit. Even if you don't have an inexpensive Firewire card right now, you will have a case that will be almost guaranteed to work with any computer or drive. It's worth the few extra dollars. USB2 is OK, but Firewire is much better. IMHO

  3. thanks for the reply red.
i was browsing newegg.com for the enclosures i thought its gonna be a lot cheaper than getting a PCI IDE host controller, the reason is i have an extra hardrive from my old PC, I upgraded (traded my PC) for another model and this one comes with SATA hardrives connected directly to the Mobo, and only comes with one IDE channel which the DVD-rom and DVD burner is currently using.
Is it better if i just get a PCI controller card? anyway i have no intention of using the hardrive as a portable. i just thought i could save money this way or maybe not.
    cheers.
