newbie upgrade help please

hi my first post to your bril site, doing a interim upgrade (to keep me happy for around 3 months) till i get more dosh together.
Which is best celeron 800mhz or pentium 3 500mhz for both general stuff and vid messing in particular

hope this is relevent enough and not to 'basic' a question

Best OR best value?
Celerons [566 and up](Coppermine) come with only 128 Kbytes of full speed L2 cache (instead of the Pentium III's 256 KBytes)

My choice would be the celeron. Having a 600 celeron that is stable at 901 helps in this biased decision.

thanx for the good advice, and i agree that the celeron would be the best bang/buck option, although looking at your link has got me thinking duron??? choices choices!
