I've been running DVD Shrink with Nero 6 for about 6 months and have never found any problems with over 100 discs. I recently decided to change to Dvd SHRINK 3.2 due to the new way it enhances picture quality. When using it i started to get ERROR messages stated that the programme could'nt read the disc in my DVD drive at around 60-70% of analysis. This was happening for both pressed and backups. I've reverted back to 3.1 and have not had any problems so far. Anyone else found this problem :(

I originally started using dvd decrypter and dvd2one, but it is time consuming. I run a seperate rom and re-writer drive , so with shrink i can set it up and then leave it to analyze, encode and burn while i try to catch up with watching '24'. Anthing stored on my HD is automatically written over the next time i use it.

  4. I always DVDdecrypter first so I've never run into that problem. I always ripped first since I believe that what you are doing could shorten the DVDrom drive life. But I could be wrong... Reason I think that is because your method spins the drive for a longer period and then twice for each disk, once for analysis and once for encoding.

Second reason I do it my way is it doesn't take to long to decrypt, It's on the HD if I need to re-do it, I'm fairly sure that the analysis and encoding should run quicker from the HD than the DVDRom... I haven't benchmarked it though.

    YMMV of course
    Cheers

You may be wrong, but put up a sound reason for using decrypter, one which i can't think of an arguement against. I don't fancy sitting back in 6 months time, with a bill for £100 in my hand, wishing that i had listened to someone else, so probably while your reading this i'm downloading decrypter and giving it a try. NOTHING TO LOSE !!!!

In theory I've got to agree. When I first started using DVDShrink there were a few discs that it couldn't rip. It's gotten better over time, but I learnt to use DVDDecrypter beforehand and it's remained a part of my process ever since.

It makes sense that your HD will achieve better data rates and therefor be quicker in both the Deep Analysis and Encoding stages. It also means you're only using your DVD-ROM for about 10-15 minutes too.
    If in doubt, Google it.
