  1. I am new to dvd burning.
    I just burned "13 Ghosts" on a 4x dvd-r.
But my Samsung dvd-s221 doesn't seem to recognize it, shows me "check tv system" error message.
    Any idea?

I suppose "-" is the way to go because my burner doesn't support bittype setting. Anything I have to notice when burning dvds?

  2. Your movie and TV are mismatched. One is NTSC and the other PAL. Select the right TV format in the Samsung's setup screen.

You can't just switch formats. Your TV and DVD player are set up for NTSC by default, since you're in the US. We don't have the luxury of dual-format TV sets like the europeans have. :P

You can't play PAL DVDs and view them on an NTSC-only TV, even if you can find a PAL option in the DVD player setup.

You need to transcode the DVD, or buy one that is in NTSC.

Or watch it only on your PC DVD player, which doesn't care what format it is.

My APEX player can do this. Guess I lucked out.

Your player, sure. But what about your TV? Does the player convert everything to the TV's format? If so, where can I get one?
