    Hi,

I have a DVD-compatible MPEG-2 system stream with AC3 audio which I created myself using a stand alone DVD recorder. Unfortunately, the first few frames of video (approx 0.5 seconds worth) show an image which I would like to remove. Initially, I just cut these frames out using the TMPGENC MPEG Editor, but this meant I lost the first three words of narration. Is there a way with TMPGENC Plus, TMPGENC Express or TMPGENC MPEG Editor (I have all these products) or a freeware program to turn these few erroneous frames black while keeping the audio synced?

BTW, I have tried searching these forums for an answer, but a search for "mpeg frame blank" and variants thereof returns an esoteric bunch of completely irrelevant matches. If I knew what to call what I'm looking for I'm sure I'd have found an answer already!

    Many thanks,
    Steve

Maybe MPEG Video Wizard, but check so it doesn't reencode the entire video.

    Or the complex way:
Demultiplex the video to mpv and ac3(split the audio and video) using for example tmpgenc under file->mpeg tools.
Use cuttermaran and cut the start, insert a new clip from something else(cut out a black part from the video or something). Save as a new mpv.
Multiplex the new video and ac3, you can do that when you author to dvd.

Thanks. I will try your complex method, although I am a little bit worried about losing audio sync. I think I will just demux and remux the MPEG first and see whether any audio sync issues arise before I cut and join.
