I switched to DirecTV recently when I moved - cable was no longer
available.
So my previous PC TV tuner card no longer works (only handles analog
cable).
Anyhow, I'm trying to decide if I should just go with a directv tivo or
maybe that toshiba sdh400 (comes with lifetime tivo basic for free) or
to try and do the PC based PVR again.
The only concern I have about the PC based PVR is controlling the
HD directv receiver via one of those IR blasters. I can't seem to find
reviews on how well they work and how reliable they actually are.
It also appears that support for them is limited to a few apps.. like
beyondTV from snapstream, sage and 1 or 2 others. I had been running
WinDVR for the last year, but it doesn't seem to have support for the
IR Blasters - least not from what I can tell in poking around the settings.
Anyone have a directv/PC PVR setup going that works and care to share
your setup details?
thanks
