  1. ok 3 questions:

    1. i have 2 VCDs that when i try to play the dat files (from the mpegav folder) in windows media player give me the error message saying

No combination of filters could be found to render the stream.

these are VCDs i did not burn myself but am interested in copying. they both play in POWERDVD and inside my DVD Player. is it possible these video files are somehow locked? if so, how can i unlock them?

    2. how would i go about copying a VCD?

    3. is there any way to buy silver CD-Rs instead of blue or black? do they play better? are they more expensive?

    thanks for the help

  2. I think I can help you with one thing. If you would like to change the .dat file on your vcd back to .mpg then check out the Tools section of this site and look for vcdgear. This program will change .dat to .mpg amoung other things.

  3. 1-Dat to mpeg conversion:
vcdgear works well; if you want you can also try a simpler software called MPEG Tools which you can find at
    http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/encoding.html

    2- Copying a VCD: Use CD-Copy (duh)

3- Very tough question; depends on your CD writer and VCD player to be honest. Experiment and see what works for you. More expensive does not necessarily mean better.

  4. i guess the other people answered your first 2 questions..as for the pure silver bottom cd's...i'm not sure..but i believe there are no pure silver bottom cd-r's to burn with, rather you press the information on them. i'm not sure if these type of cd's are sold on the common market..but i believe you have to buy them in bulk like the entertaiment industry
