I just bought one from B&H Photo. Reputable place; I've dealt with them for years. When I unpacked the shipping box I found the AVT8710 box was a plain white cardboard box (it does have a sticker label indicating the part number). Inside was the unit and the power brick, each in a separate section of a formed plastic "container". The thing is the container had three formed depressions, but only the two I mentioned were filled. Is that normal? Also, the instructions were crude B&W print (and drawings) on plain white paper. When I say crude I'm comparing it to the kind of manuals and four color output usually used nowadays with many electronic devices. The receipt identifies the 8710 as a TVone, but the unit is clearly a AVToolBox.

The hardware and box looked factory fresh, and the unit powers up perfectly fine (haven't tested it yet).

Hello-That's what you get. AC adaptor, AVT 8710 and a pretty basic manual. I've been using it a lot since I got it from B&H, it's well worth the $200. The TBC is rock solid, especially if you use SVideo. Remember to hook up your audio cables that do not go through the AVT 8710.
If you use the video enhancement features, I've found if you only go +2 clicks on any of the features, you'll be fine. The Contrast, Sharpness and Color enhancements are great if you don't go overboard.
B&H is a good company. When you get something from them, use it right away to make sure it's not defective. If what you bought is not working, they will replace it within their warranty period. B&H built their business by dealing with professionals, they don't rip people off.

Yes, the manual is pretty cheap looking.

TVone and AVtool are the same company, just that TVone is professional broadcast equipment and AVtool is consumer grade equipment.
