  1. it worked! and now i want to delete the rendered files and move on to rendering the 2nd part. I am going to make 2 or 3 DVDs of the 1st project before i do this. But say down the road someone else wants a copy of one of these, will i be able to put the DVD-r in my DVD-rom drive, copy and paste the contents to the hardrive, and then write that to a blank DVD-r? or will i need the project saved and captured video files?

i need to free up some HD space to move on!

You dont need to save the project files, just rip the files to your hdd as an iso image and burn with DVD Decrypter, just make sure you check the burned dvd first for mistakes with an program such as dvdinfopro.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

No to both questions. A movie DVD is not the same as a data DVD.
What burning software are you using? Most if not all DVD burning programs will allow you to make a copy of your authored DVD.

Unless I'm missing something, I'd have to disagree on both counts.

    Here's how I understand it:

    1. 3hitsaday has authored a DVD from source files.
    2. This DVD, I'm presuming, is a bog-standard DVD-R with a VIDEO_TS and an AUDIO_TS folder.
    3. There are VOB, IFO and BUP files in the VIDEO_TS folder.
    4. Unless he's totally loaded, there'll be no encryption.

So, it is possible to just copy the folders to the hard drive at a future date and then burn those to a different DVD-R, or even DVD+R should he wish.

    I know, I've done it.

And, because of that, it's OK to delete the rendered files if he's sure they won't be needed again.

@ 3hitsaday - P.S. Congratulations on your first DVD. Good feeling eh?

    No to both questions.
@jyn999, you are wrong. There is no problems doing a 'copy and paste' of the files from a DVDr to your HD and the writing back to DVDr. The only issue would be making sure to use the correct filesystem on the new disk (UDF/ISO).

Doing ISO Read then ISO Write with DVDDecrypter as johns0 suggested is probably the simplest and most foolproof way.
