  1. i can get my vhs to the computer & on to dvd but then the dvd won't play on any stand alone dvd player with a tv. i have about 4 different programs for this. before i got the video on the disc & it played on the stand alone dvd player but it didn't have the audio. this is getting exhausting. i've tried windows movie maker, windows media player, intervideo win dvd creator, studio quick start version 8 dazzel, nero media player & record now!. i think i have tried all of the available combinations & i am still missing something. thank you.

    Try TMPGEnc DVD Author

Somewhat basic but easy to use and very stable ... does a great job ... just doesn't make the nicest looking menus sometimes.

You can download and use it FULL FEATURED during a "trial period" which I think is either 2 or 4 weeks. After that it locks up and you need to register it (buy it) to keep using it.

TMPGEnc DVD Author is just one of many such programs but it is popular since it is so easy to use and stable etc.
