  2. I have some of this and the media is crap. Verbatim and Ricoh are the only media that I have found that work reliably. I have used a Pioneer DL and NEC DL Writer.

I beg to differ. Here is a scan that was burned at 4x on my NEC 3500. I can't get this good a scan on my Taiyo Yuden 8x SL discs.

    Ritek DL 2.4x @ 4x NC 3500 F/W 2.8c SE Ritek DL 4x

  4. How many did you write? I have written three pieces. The disks are not recognized in the drive that they were written in.
    NEC ND-6100A - Written at 2.4X - FW 1.21.

    I wrote 3 out of the 5 pack I got from RIMA.com. They all read fine in my 3 PC DVD's (Lite-On 811s,Lite-On 166s, and NEC 3500) and my Philips 711 set-top and my Toshiba 3950 set-top.

All were burned at 4x with unofficial firmware like i posted. I think it may be a burner issue. Up until yesterday, there was no official F/W support for the Ritek DL discs on the 3500.

  6. See the report from CDinfo. The drives that have (0) PIE had issues during write. It appears that this media requires more power to write than Verbatim and Ricoh DL medias. Most of my drives are Slim writers which have lower power output.
