This looked like the least inappropriate forum in which to post this question....

For my next DVD project, I'd like to create a title page (sync'd to the audio track) that has animated letters. Imagine a title such as "TITLE", where each letter floats onto the screen, one after another, spinning and rotating and finally coming to rest in the appropriate spot. Eventually, the last letter "E" settles into its spot and the entire word "TITLE" is then in place.

I use Premiere 6.5 for most of my work, but I can't figure out how to do something like this. Premiere seems more suited to manipulating existing clips, not creating new ones. You can create decent titles with it, but this degree of animation seems a bit beyond its intent.

Any recommendations on how to do it within Premiere, or a better tool for getting it done? Thanks!

    Hi rlhartman,

For all things Premiere, go to www.wrigleyvideo.com - there's tutorials and forums.

As for how to do it, that sounds like a job (possibly) for either:

    Adobe After Effects
    Combustion
    Ulead COOL 3D

I've not used any of these, but I have a similar interest to you that I've not yet explored and so have these tools in my "Tools list" waiting to be evaluatde...

If you do find the right tool, please post back so that I and others can benefit. Ta.

If you have ever used "swish" before you can do exactly what you want & export as an AVI, then convert to your other format (mpeg etc)

  4. This is defenitely a job for Blufftitler! It's an awesome titling program that blows away anything I've ever used as far as ease-of-use and quality! I dealt with Cool3D and it's super-slow renders and frequent crashes for 2 years before I found Blufftitler. Now there's no looking back! Did I mention it's only $40!!! Check it out here:

swish is a good choice .... you can do it in vegas or premiere also pretty easy if you create the 3D letters in another program
