So I got tired of trying to find something on the mac that will convert windows media files. Have a pc at work, trying to convert the world series to files that I can burn on the mac with dvd studio pro imovie whatever. The issue is that the files that you get are windows media files. Downloaded a decoder trial called, Digital Media Converter v2.31. Seems to work ok just a quick question.
On the pc side does anyone have any experience with these types of converters, and what is the consensis on the best one

apparently they make/will make a quicktime component that does decode wmv. Here is a cut and paste from their site:

The Flip4Mac wmv Import Component lets you import Windows Media files for editing or simply for playing in QuickTime player.

I'm looking forward to trying this.

Hate to dredge up this old of a thread, but since DanSlagle and sdm had an interest in it, I thought I'd pass on some info I received today. There is a news release for today that it is now available worldwide for online purchase and download.

Since I work for this company, I don't want to say too much more for fear of being tagged with advertising!

  7. Newbie here,
will flip4mac allow you to burn the converted WMV onto VCD like an Mpeg-1 while using Toast?

Well being a VCD MUST be an MPEG-1 in order to qualify as a VCD I will say NO :P
