I am trying to make a dvd for my grandma. It is mostly going to consist of picture images with text and background music, but I am also going to capture old vhs footage in between. I can't use my vcd program that I am used to because the cdr isn't big enough to capture the whole thing. I need a program that can do all of this easily and won't cost me an arm and a leg. I already have an old version of Ulead DVD workshop, but can't seem to figure out how easily to use this. A friend of mine said that I could use his computer and do it with Adobe Premiere, but I think that would be more complicated for me to do. Any suggestions? With my vcd program that I had you could put your images and music on a timeline and then it would time it out for you. It's extremely simple, and I was hoping to find something similar for creating this homemade dvd picture/video disk, but keep running in to the problem of finding one that will allow me to add the video too. Thanks for your help!

DVDit! 5 can do slideshows decently. I've not used it much. It has lots of MPEG bugs (using ready-made MPEG files), so I've dumped it.

Lordsmurf- Thanks so much for the recommendation. I have much enjoyed your posts on previous forums, and have learned how to use my ATI AIW 8500 analog capture card thanks to you. I have gone over and over them to try and get the right settings. The maker of my dvd burner gave me a serial for a new program to replace the WinDVD Creator Plus that we couldn't get to work. They gave me Nero's 6 Ultra, and told me that it would be everything and more that I would need. Is this a good one to use? Any suggestions if it isn't? Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't use NEro for anything more than burning. Go ahead and try it, but don't go in with huge expectation. Try to make a video on a DVD+RW/-RW with 5-10 images. A test.

Ulead DVD Movie Factory allows mixing videos and still images. So does Nero Vision Express 2 NVE2 allows animated menu buttons with the linked video playing in the button. A slick addition
